Time of Use Rate

Blue Ridge Electric Co-op is offering residential members a new rate option that gives members who can adjust their energy habits around the times when demand is highest on the grid more flexibility and savings opportunities.

The new Time of Use rate offers low energy costs during off-peak hours and focuses on kilowatt hours (kWh) usage in peak windows rather than kilowatts (kW), which charges $13 per kW on the three-part EmPOWERment rate.

The basic facilities charge is $1.10 per day. The off-peak usage charge, which is 21 hours a day, is 11.3 cents per kilowatt hour. The on-peak usage charge, which is three hours a day, is 45 cents per kilowatt hour. The time windows remain the same for the summer (April-October; 3-6 p.m.) and winter (November-March; 6-9 a.m.). The peak window hours apply seven days a week.

By running major appliances, like your dishwasher and dryer, outside of peak times, you can maximize your monthly savings.

If you are interested in this rate, please call Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative at 800-240-3400.
