Big Events on the Calendar
Mar 1, 2010
It’s March, but the Blue Ridge organizations are already thinking about May. We’re looking forward to the two biggest events on our calendar.
First up will be the 2010 Annual Meeting of cooperative members. This yearly get-together is scheduled for Monday, May 10, at the Blue Ridge equipment facility in Pickens.
As always, attendees will participate in the important business session. In the time segments on either side of that session will be a host of other activities.
Gold City
Upon registering in person, each member will receive a door prize that we believe every recipient will be delighted to have. The annual meeting will also feature drawings for dozens of valuable prizes, free blood-pressure screenings, and free snacks and beverages. We’ve also booked some outstanding entertainment. Curtis Blackwell and the Dixie Blue Grass Boys will perform prior to the business meeting. After the close of the business session, one of America’s premier Gospel quartets, Gold City, will take the stage to sing all their favorites.
Above and beyond anything else Blue Ridge undertakes, the annual meeting ranks as number one. The April edition of South Carolina Living will contain all the annual meeting details, including registration information. In the meantime, I hope you’ll mark May 10 in your datebook.
On Friday and Saturday following the annual meeting, Blue Ridge employees will once again host our charity fund-raiser, Blue Ridge Fest. Since we plan to provide ample coverage of Blue Ridge Fest in next month’s South Carolina Living local pages, I’m going to hit just a few highlights now.
$5,000 cash prize
Headlining the Beach Night show and dance on Friday will be the world-famous Temptations with Dennis Edwards. Preceding them on the stage will be two other quality groups: the Legends of Beach and Jim Quick and Coastline. Coupled with the live music will be the Upstate’s largest classic-car cruise-in. A raffle drawing will be held that evening for a $5,000 cash prize. At the end of the motorcycle rally and card run on Saturday, we’ll conduct a second raffle drawing for a new Harley-Davidson bike.
Blue Ridge Fest promises to be full of fun for the entire family. It does, however, have a serious purpose. All net proceeds will go to support a dozen area human-assistance agencies. All these organizations are in need of financial help, especially in this current economic environment.
May 10 and May 14-15 offer some positive opportunities for Blue Ridge members. It would be my pleasure to welcome you to either or both of these events.
Sincerely,

Charles E. Dalton
